Health first, aesthetics second
Veneers are not placed on a tooth with caries, and whitening is not done over calculus. That is why an aesthetic plan always starts with an examination and hygiene - otherwise the result lasts a year and disappears together with the problem nobody looked at.
Shape and shade are chosen before fixation: diagnostic modelling first, then a temporary construction, and only after that the permanent one. Every stage goes into the photoprotocol.
There are three ways to change how teeth look
They differ in price, time and reversibility. The most expensive is not always necessary - the doctor will show the difference on your own photographs.
E.max ceramic veneers
Diagnostic modelling, shape and shade selection, tooth preparation, a temporary veneer, fixation of the permanent one and a photoprotocol. Five hours of work per tooth.
Cosmetic restoration
Composite rebuilds shape and colour without preparation of the tooth. Work in the smile zone is done under a rubber dam, the most precise of it under a microscope.
Whitening
Beyond in-office whitening takes an hour and a half in the chair. At-home whitening is a course in custom trays with professional gel and follow-up visits. Remineralisation precedes both.

Questions about veneers and whitening
How long does whitening last?
It depends on what you drink and whether you smoke. Coffee, tea and red wine bring the colour back fastest. The at-home course is easier to maintain because the gel stays with you.
Do veneers damage the tooth?
A tooth is prepared for a ceramic veneer, and that is irreversible. So the doctor first shows what a restoration without preparation can do, and only then whether a veneer makes sense.
Can teeth with fillings be whitened?
The enamel will lighten, the filling will not. That is why fillings in the smile zone are usually replaced after whitening, and this is planned in advance.
Why is whitening done after hygiene?
The gel works on enamel, not on plaque and calculus. Without cleaning the colour comes out patchy and some teeth stay darker.
